“Idea Fija,” an exhibit of recent works by artist Cathy Lasam is featured currently at 1/of Gallery at Serendra in Bonifacio Global City. On view are polyptychs that consist of an oil on canvas piece or a series of these, accompanied by a mounted paper sculpture of an element in any of the paintings. The collection was spurred by Lasam’s aspirations and their fulfillment, a process where the painted renditions stand for her “ideas and visions” and their realization takes form in the three –dimemsional. Her intent is to “visually reinforce the relationship of abstract thought and concrete reality: the transition from the artist’s passionate drive, to conceptualization, and finally into a real, and palpable art object.”Cathy Lasam graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from U.P. in 2003. Since then she has exhibited her works extensively both locally and abroad. A member of Philippine Art Educators Association (PAEA), Cathy Lasam has been an art educator since 2005.
